Possibly his favourite job, was being Vice Principal at the adult education centre at Dillington House (Ilfracombe). 

A week before he was supposed to start, he was shown his own car parking space...but he couldn't drive. So that week, he took many lessons in a crash course...sorry...passed the test, and bought a car. His driving instructor went with him from Burnley to Ilfracombe. We never found out how the instructor got home!
